Temple Grounds

These sketches begin to show the process that lead to the final design. It was a unique opportunity to design for various uses that were particular to the temple grounds, such as photo opportunities for groups of all sizes, waiting areas, and creating a place of solace and reflection.

After numerous visits to the site, I began to come up with ideas, but each would have one thing or another that would not work. Eventually, I was able to come up with a plan that met the needs of the visitors, and the requests from the facility managers.

I learned quite a bit working on this project. Afterwards I realized the complete lack of focus on the vertical elements in the design. This experience is something I refer back to on a regular basis.

The final plan was rendered with colored pencils and a bit of marker, which gave the plan a brighter look than my previous work.
